Filming Blog for Music Video

Image
For our filming blog we woke up super early and we met at Mickel park on Friday the 27th. By early mean around 6:30 so we could get there by 8am. This early arrangement was mostly because we had to film around one of our teammates work schedules. When we got to the park though they weren't open yet, probably because of Black Friday. We waited an hour before eventually coming to the conclusion that the park wasn't going to open anytime soon. With that in mind we quickly decided to find a park close by that would be open even with the crazy Black Friday schedules. We knew we wanted one with a playground and besides that we weren't picky, so finding on was easy. Mills Pond park was only 4 minutes away and ended up becoming our new set for the video. Since it was on the bigger side we had more film space, but ended up thinking that the play ground was the funniest place to be. We knew playing on the slides and swings would give us some funnier clips for our video. The weather...

Storyboard Blog for the Music Video

Image
The first scene there is an a group chat on iMessage that of friends discussing how great their day is going to be. In this scene the names of the actors are introduced. In the next scene there are 2 of the friends waiting one a bench for the last 2 friends to join. This will be a wide shot and establishing shot since it introduces all the friends together and a new setting. Finally the rest of the friends join. They enjoy each others company and converse for a few minutes. They then decide to go on the playground in scene 4. As two of them playing on the swings and slides the other two play with the frisbee. In scene 6 two of the friends decided to go back to the bench to play board games. TikTok is a popular app where you can make funny videos with your friends. They wanted to make some TikTok videos so that created some in scene 7.  Sometimes a rest break is needed so that why one friend was under the tree resting while the rest have fun.  Scene 9 is where things take a shi...

Research Blog for our Music Video

Image
Research Blog Clip from 'Walking On Sunshine' music video Our music video won't follow the convection of the Pop Rock genre. After analyzing the "Walking On Sunshine" music video, me and my group have decided to stir away from pop rock convections and create our own unique music video. When first discussing the filming process, a majority of our group agreed on wearing colorful wigs. Not for any significant reasoning but simply doing it out of fun. Though, the colorful wigs will aid the overall tone of the video. Going back to convections of the Pop Rock genre, in our research we've found the common characteristic of Pop Rock music videos. Typically will contain multiple scenes of the artist doing random activities or following a story. As well as scenes altering the focus of the video of those artist following their story to them preforming the song on stage. The attire in most Pop Rock music videos are trendy, yet moderate toned clothing. A perfect mixture...

Planning for our Music Video

Image
Title- The title of the song we are doing is "Walking on Sunshine". The genre this song is classified under is pop rock.   Props- In our commercial we will utilize a cell phone for our main prop. In our music video we want to maintain some of the conventions. We might also use things such as Frisbees, slides and swings at the park in our video also. Costume- To mimic the style of the music video we will be dressed in very casual clothing. We will also be wearing colorful wigs. We hope that the wigs will give our commercial a unique new style and hopefully get the viewers to smile. The costumes can also add a happy effect that our story might not get across.  Schedule We hope to knock out our filming in one day, preferably on a nice sunny day. If we cannot and we end up taking up more than a day, we can fix up a schedule that makes sure our filming days will be on weekends and in the afternoon. This is meant to be convenient towards all of us due to having school in the we...

Intro Blog for Music Video

Image
I decided to work in a group of 4 people. My partners are Tiana Graham, Andrew James, and Eric Bonilla. I first chose Andrew as my partner because we are friends who work well together. The last project we completed together we produced great work and I wanted to continue that. Tiana and Eric previously worked together and created quality work as well, we thought it would be a good move to merge our groups together. Overall we decided to combine with them because we figured it would be easier for the filming. If it were just us two the video wouldn't have much substance. With more people we can interact in the music video more. The hardest part of this process so far was choosing a song, there were so many that we liked. We finally came to a consensus on a song that would work. The name of the song we chose is "Walking on Sunshine"- Katrina and the Waves. We decided on that song because it sounds very uplifting and happy. It is a very easy listening and light ...

Creative Critical Reflection for my Crocs Commerical

Image
 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? Common elements in Crocs commercials are usually people just walking in silence looking at the shoes. People admire the shoes and there is not much dialogue or footage of the shoes in action. In my commercial I decided to add conventions of my own, implementing more speech, sound, and action. It gave my product more depth and I showed a new side to the product that many people don't see in the commercials. I made it more interesting and engaging which many people may enjoy. My product is representative to people who enjoy wearing crocs because it shows another side of the shoes that many people use without thinking about. 2. How does your project engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My project is engaging to audience because of the playful and exuberant nature of the project. My video showcases the "athletic" side to Crocs. I hav...

My Crocs Commercial for Media Studies

Image
The process that went into making this commercial was very interesting. I have never really filmed and edited a project like this before. In this project I kind of had to step up as a director and really navigate how I wanted this commercial to turn out. It took lots of thinking to come up with the product I would like to use and if it would be good for me to use it. This project was really opening my eyes to the world of media and taught me a lot. There is so much work that goes into the completion of a good quality commercial. I had to research a bit about the different aspects of my products commercials and how to use those aspects in my own way. During the filming I had to navigate how I needed everything to look to make sure the end result would be clear and easy to understand. I did not want my video to be too dark or too bright and I wanted to make sure any dialogue would be easy to hear as well. I made sure to re film many times to ensure I have quality clips to use in my video...

Editing for my Crocs Commercial

Image
The editing process of my commercial was not too difficult. The total time it took to edit was about 30 minutes. I used iMovie to edit on my laptop and I begun my importing my footage onto my laptop. I organized the clips in the order I wanted the commercial to flow. I did not use all the clips I wanted to make sure I remained in the time limit. I watched all the footage back as I was editing to find the perfect clips to use for each part. For the parts of the commercial I did not want to use I cut the clip and merged the other pieces together. During the editing process I noticed that the time limit wasn't going over too much and I was on the right track. I wanted to add a little bit of calming music to the background of my video. In many Croc commercials there is a calm background music and I wanted to add that element to my commercial. I looked through all the sounds and music on iMovie and found a song fitting to the commercial. I then lowered the volume on the audio clip so i...

Filming for my Crocs Commercial

Image
On Sunday November 1st I filmed my Crocs commercial. The person I originally wanted to film with was unable to come over and film so I just filmed with my mom instead.  During this process I directed the filming. I decided the positions my mother and I would stand in, and the dialogue we would use in the commercial. Before filming I cleared the yard of any signs that would get in the way of my video. I also played around with locations for the camera to sit to record. I gathered the football and soccer ball, the shoe box and crocs, and set up the camera in the front yard. I decided to film in the front yard of my house because I wanted to use the grass to play with the balls. This was the first option out of the two options I had for filming stated in my planning. The park would have been nice to film at as well but my front yard proved it self to be way more efficient. I filmed when the sun was out so there would be good natural lighting but also when it was no...
