Creative Critical Reflection for my Crocs Commerical

 1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?

Common elements in Crocs commercials are usually people just walking in silence looking at the shoes. People admire the shoes and there is not much dialogue or footage of the shoes in action. In my commercial I decided to add conventions of my own, implementing more speech, sound, and action. It gave my product more depth and I showed a new side to the product that many people don't see in the commercials. I made it more interesting and engaging which many people may enjoy. My product is representative to people who enjoy wearing crocs because it shows another side of the shoes that many people use without thinking about.

2. How does your project engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?

My project is engaging to audience because of the playful and exuberant nature of the project. My video showcases the "athletic" side to Crocs. I have footage of playing football and soccer in the video and that may lead people to now wanting to use Crocs for more than one purpose. It may interest those who love playing sports outside and don't always feel like putting on sneakers. My video would most likely be distributed as a real media text on social media and youtube. I feel like the energy my video exudes would be more appropriately absorbed through social media networking and youtube. It would not be fit for TV because of the amount of professionalism usually in TV commercials and mine is more lighthearted and fun.

3. How did your production skills develop through this project?

In the duration of this project I assumed the responsibilities and roles of a director, actor, editor, and cameraman. I am more proficient in my editing skills, I learned to smoothly transition between clips to make a less choppy video. I had to learn to play music and sound effects throughout the video without overlapping the sound and making sure the volume wasn't too overpowering to the original audio of the video. As a cameraman I had to film on angles that were suitable for my video to ensure the absence of shadows or streaks of light in my video. I was a director during my project because I had the responsibility of administering directions of where to stand, what to do and what to say in my video. As an actor I executed my direction in my video and played my role.

4. How did you integrate technologies-software, hardware and online- in this project?

To film my video I utilized my phone which is an iPhone XR, I filmed using my back camera for better quality. I researched and edited on my laptop which is a MacBook air. To edit I used iMovie, an editing software that was pre-installed onto my laptop. I uploaded my video to youtube which has an editing software on their that I used to choose and thumbnail, I also uploaded my video to youtube and embedded it into Blogger; the website used to publish our blogs.
