Research Blog: Commercial Conventions

 My commercial will be about Crocs. The main product in my commercial will be Clogs by Crocs. In these commercials you usually see people admiring the product in hopes to buy it. They often times walk into the store after the shoes catching their eyes and leave with the shoes on and the cameras following them. 

- They usually wear casual clothing in these commercials. The shoes used are very casual wear so it makes sense for them to have actors dressed in casual clothing complimentary to the crocs.

- The shoes worn at first are sneakers but they often change into wearing crocs. When they first show people with shoes on in many commercials they show them with sneakers on but at the end they always are wearing the product instead.

-The lighting in the commercials seem to use natural light. The lighting does not look super bright in most commercials for example when filming outside the lighting looks as if it is coming from the sunlight.

- The angles used sometimes are low angles and high angles with close up shots and panning shots. They use these angles sometimes to show the person walking in with out shoes and leaving with them on.

- Often times they are in a shoe store so the store would be set up with shoe boxes and bags.

- In these commercials there are shelves holding the product up and the boxes as well.

Conventions-

 

-In crocs commercials there are slogans or hashtags found such as #findyourfun, share the love, or feel the love.

- They always show shots of the bands on the back of the shoes or boxes to showcase the Crocs brand name. 

- The commercials may sometimes appeal to pathos because of the children aspect of the commercials sometimes when they really like the shoe and they finally get it. This may make somebody feel more emotionally inclined to purchase the shoe.

 - The commercials showcase ordinary people to show the shoe is for everybody and not just for a certain class of people. This may make people want to buy the product because they feel like it its catered to people like them.
