Our Pitch

The two genres for our pitch that my partner and I came up with are along the lines of documentary and comedy. We decided on these two genres because these are both topics of interest for us. Growing up we both found a heightened interest in documentaries. We would stay up late to watch youtube videos about various subjects. Our topic of discussion is food, specifically processed food. We chose this because we want to make a movie introduction that brings awareness to the things we put in our body. Our pitch for our documentary is as follows: For the documentary genre we want to do a movie introduction about processed food from fast food places and grocery stores. To film this genre it is less convenient for the both of us because filming locations would have to be multiple locations. We have too much of a variety of filming locations to choose from. It is just an all around too much of a hassle to film. As adolescents we would watch comedies with our families. One of our favorite comedic shows is The Office". The office is a show full of sarcasm, laughter, and jokes. If we were to decide to go with the comedic route then we would do it in "The Office" type of style. In the show they would zoom in into the actors face and use non diegetic sounds. In the film everything is natural from the sounds to the humor. Ultimately we decided to go with the documentary. The comedy genre gave us a lot of room for creativity since there are so many comedies and it would be easy to manipulate our sense of humor to suit our audience. Many people have different types of humor so this genre was definitely a good choice because the office utilizes jokes that may resonate with people individually. Making an audience laugh rather than trying to inform them was the best conclusion that seems more fun. Our pitch is as follows: For the comedy genre we want to do a movie introduction that is in the style of the office.
