Genre Decision

Our group opening sequence will be comedy. We came to this decision because the comedy genre is what excited us the most. It gives us a lot of space and creativity to work with. Other genres can sometimes be too restrictive but comedy gives us the flexibility to add whatever we would like into it. We chose comedy by evaluating our other genre choices that also appealed to us and we found a middle ground in comedy. Doing something like action or drama isn't very convenient for us to film so it's good we both agreed on a genre that is not only has favorable conditions but that we both enjoy. We both have similar interest in comedy films which made it easy for us to settle on this genre. In a previous project done at the beginning of the year we used the horror genre. We decided to not do the horror genre because we wanted to try something new. This is a genre we have never worked with before. Not only is this providing new experiences but it's providing us the opportunity to learn something new. We had to examine all possibilities on which genre is the most effective. By process of elimination we worked our way down to comedy. We contemplated on many genres for quite a while. One of our favorite comedy series is "The Office". The humor of that show is like you either get it or you don't so that gives space to make jokes that people of many backgrounds will enjoy because of the variety. This is something that really influenced our decision into the comedy genre. With that being said we also decided to have our sequence in "The Office" style. Although there was a lot of contemplating we felt like comedy was the best decision for the both of us. The comedy is going to be a humorous and interesting genre to work on.
